How we can assist?
Voight Contracting can supply and deliver bulk agricultural lime and other products to address your Acid Sulphate Soil issues. We also have equipment and staff to spread, incorporate and mix materials into the treatment areas.

We will work in accordance with your Acid Sulphate Soil Management Plan (usually provided to you by soil analysis specialist) and ensure that the correct amount of lime (or other) is spread or mixed into the soil at correct depths, along with ensuring correct area coverage.

What is it?
Acid Sulphate Soils (ASS) is the common name given to soil and sediments containing iron sulphides. When drainage and disturbance expose this soil to air, they produce sulphuric acid, often containing toxic quantities of iron, aluminium and heavy metals.

This can result in the acidification of soil, sediment, rock, and water having and extreme negative impact on aquatic communities, agricultural practices, and engineering works. ASS can affect land use and development, and must be considered and managed in the planning stages, before land has been cleared or drained, and before construction can begin.

What is its impact?
Acid sulphate soil, if left untreated, will cause acid water run off which contributes to blue green algae. Numerous negative impacts occur from Acid Sulphate soil, across many different industries. ASS affects soil quality, aquatic habitats, groundwater quality, drainage systems and many more factors in both the civil and agricultural industries.

Agricultural Lime…

What is it?
Agricultural Lime is a soil additive made from pulverised limestone. Its main use in civil and agricultural industries is to neutralise acid sulphate soils. This gives ASS higher productivity, and makes it less hazardous to plant, people and construction works.

What does it do?
When Aglime is incorporated into ASS, the levels of calcium and magnesium are raised, thus neutralising the soils, and making it more usable.
